Chapter 6 Summary

Valancy visits Dr. Trent, but just as he about to diagnose her, he gets a call that his son Ned was in a terrible accident. Dr. Trent runs out to catch the train. As Valancy walks home, she cuts through Lover's Lane so that she isn't late for dinner. She sees the town criminal and drunk coming out from under his car. At that moment, Valancy's vision of her prince in the Blue Castle changes to look more like Barney Snaith. When Valancy gets home, she eats like every day and then her mother makes her darn socks rather than have time to read. Valancy cries herself to sleep, which is the same way she woke in the morning.
