Chapter Thirteen, Tialys and Salmakia Summary

Will uses the gun to knock down the golden monkey who then releases the Lady Salmakia. Tialys orders Will to follow him and Salmakia, asking him if he has got the knife. He says he does, not mentioning that it is broken. Mrs. Coulter cries for Lyra to stay and grabs her. Lyra is obviously affected, but she is awake enough to loosen Mrs. Coulter's grip on her ankle and keeps going. Lyra cries as they leave. Tialys tells Will that they must give themselves up to the Africans. Will heads to the open window with Lyra and Ama, but their way is blocked by three Swiss Guards.
