Chapter Eleven, The Dragonflies Summary
Iorek and Will have found their way to the valley where Lyra is being held by her mother, and Ama comes across Iorek and Will on her way to bring food to Mrs. Coulter. Ama tells them about the sleeping girl. Will and Ama sneak up to the cave and see Mrs. Coulter and the monkey, and Will sends Ama home with instructions to bring the medicine back with her when she returns with the food for Mrs. Coulter. He decides that the best thing is to walk up to Mrs. Coulter openly, and does so. Mrs. Coulter shows Lyra to him, fast asleep. Will memorizes the layout of the cave. Mrs. Coulter talks to him, tries to see the knife, and explains that she wants to keep Lyra safe from the Church and that she is keeping her daughter drugged for the girl's own safety.
