Chapter 15 Summary

The police officers take Willie and Marcus to the station in two separate cars. They tell Willie that Marcus is telling them everything and that he should tell them everything too. Willie says Marcus isn't talking and refuses to talk either. The cops beat up Willie. Later, when Willie sees Marcus in his cell, Marcus doesn't have a mark on him. Willie calls him a rat.

Marcus is sentenced to twenty-five years in Sing Sing. Willie gets fifty years. Willie meets Johnny Egan in prison and the two plan an escape. They escape successfully and have Bess pick them up outside of the prison.

As Sutton relays this story to the reporter and photographer, Willie handcuffs the photographer. The photographer wants to know what it felt like to get beat by the cops while handcuffed so Sutton tries to recreate the experience. Still...
