Chapter 12 Summary

Four years later, Willie's parole is approved, while Eddie's is denied. Willie tries to get a job but can't seem to find one. He goes to Philadelphia to look up one of Doc's old friends. The friend says Doc has been in prison for the last couple of years. The friend hires Willie to kill a little person, but when Willie meets the little person he realizes he can't kill him.

Willie ends up finding a job working for a landscaping company. he is assigned to a crew that works the estate of Greystone. Greystone is owned by a famous and very rich lawyer, Mr. Untermyer. Untermyer takes an interest in Willie after seeing him reading one of Cicero's books on his lunch break.

After Sutton shows the reporter and photographer the home of Mr. Funck, the landscape company owner, they move on...
