Chapter 33, The Snowmobile Summary

Jack is in the shed, attempting to repair the snowmobile in order to take his family in to town. As he works, he thinks of how unfair it is that the situation has turned out badly. He picks up a roque mallet and thinks briefly of smashing the snowmobile, but knows Wendy is right. When he cannot find a battery, however, he is relieved until he sees Danny across the snow, attempting to create a snowman. Suddenly, Jack understands that the hotel is working on him as well as on Danny, for different reasons. Jack is a weak link due to his alcoholism and violent temper, and also since his mental state is somewhat unstable.
