Summary

In Chapter 25, Mila learns the hotel where Matthew is staying is less than 90 miles from his home. She sends a text to Jake letting him know they’ll be seeing Matthew that day. When they get to Matthew’s motel door, Gil reaches for Mila’s hand. Matthew opens the door and Honey is ecstatic. As Mila studies Matthew, she realizes he is not what she expected. He seems sad and quiet. She had expected him to be desperate. Even though she tries, Mila can’t get a good read on Matthew. Matthew finally asks Mila if she’d mind sitting in the lobby for a while so he and Gil could talk. In the lobby Mila is a little upset because Honey chose to stay with Matthew.
