Summary

In Chapter 16, Mila, Gil and Honey settle into the hotel. She sends Cat a text telling her they haven’t found Matthew. Cat’s return text is sarcastic but then she texts back saying her father has moved out of the house. They feed Honey, who refuses to eat the dry dog food, then walk to a Thai restaurant. Later at the motel Mila falls asleep with the television on. She wakes and sees that Gil is still awake. She sends her mother a text and then sits up with Gil for a while. They watch a nature program together. Back in her room, she sends Matthew another text message. Then she asks if they can call Marieka. After they talk, they agree to go to sleep.
