Summary

In Chapter 11, Suzanne starts a video for Mila to watch but Mila wants to listen to what Suzanne and Gil are talking about. She hears Suzanne say Matthew might be having an affair. Mila thinks if she were a woman with a baby whose husband was missing she would be screaming and panicked. Mila mentions that to Gil who says he’s noticed Suzanne’s unusual calm as well. He says it might be different for them and tells her that most couples who loose a child don’t stay together. Knowing time moves differently for people who speak different languages, Mila wonders how time moves for Suzanne. As she studies her, Mila decides Suzanne is an angry person trying to pretend to be normal. Mila plays with Gabriel until he begins to cry and Suzanne rescues him. She looks at the books...
