Chapter 49 Summary

Alec pulls into the parking lot just as the first shots are fired. Wincott is right behind him. Alec sees Sophie and Cordie. Cordie tells her they can't find Regan and, just then, another shot rings out. Alec and Wincott take off in the direction of the gunshot, but not before Cordie sees the look on Alec's face. She knows that if Alec catches the killer, he will not live to be tried. More shots are fired and Alec, ignoring Wincott's pleas to let him go ahead, runs in that direction.
