Chapter 13 Summary

The killer is furious. He's worked so hard and it isn't fair she's gotten away. She tricked him, he believes. He pounds the dashboard in his car until his knuckles bleed. He returns home and, once in the safety of his garage, begins to panic. It is only a matter of time before they find 'the accident,' his other victim. When they do, will they be able to connect it to what happened tonight? How will Nina survive if he goes to prison? Finally, he calms down, and assures himself the beast will not let that happen. There will be other chances to catch Regan.

As he cleans himself and his clothes, he is torn between feeling sorry for Regan, whose pain looked so much like Nina's, and raging at her for getting away. He knows he cannot have it both ways...
