Chapter 7 Summary

Regan tells Sophie and Cordie she's willing to take part in their scheme. Sophie asks Regan to go to the police station and find out what's been happening since Cordie make her last inquiry.

Sophie claims she can't go herself because she's a reporter and they don't tell reporters anything. Then she admits, she doesn't want any of the other reporters who might be hanging around at the police station to see her and wonder what she's doing there. If they got wind of her story and beat her to the punch, her chance at getting promoted off the advice column could be ruined.

Chapter 7 Analysis

Sophie's real reason for getting involved in the Shields affair is revealed. She's a wanna-be investigative reporter, looking for the big story to get her off the advice column and into real news.
