A Dying Breath. August 7, 1936. Abilene, Lettie, and Ruthanne decide they should use the handwriting in the note left by the Rattler to discover who it is. To do this, Abilene comes up with a scheme that will cause everyone in town to submit their handwriting voluntarily. It is announced a short time later that there will be a contest at the newspaper called Remember When in which everyone will submit stories of from 1918 and the best one will win five dollars.
