Summary

In Chapter 61, even though Snake has asked him to be quiet, Alois cannot help but speak his mind. He was frustrated with the VK because they used nonlethal ammunition and he thought they had ruined Snake’s chance to kidnap Annie, a move that would give them leverage over Penn. Alois put pressure on his father to do something now to get revenge for what had happened. Snake said he had already done something but would not tell Alois what he had done. He would only say that the trial was over.

Later, Deputy Larry McQuarters went to check on Tom but found the doctor’s cell was empty. He was told that the doctor had been taken to the infirmary for a pill for chest pains. When McQuarters arrived in the infirmary another deputy had a pill in a paper cup but...
