Book 2: Adulthood Rites; Section 2: Phoenix Summary
In chapter one, one of Akin's Oankali parents hear a cry. Tino's body is found and taken to be healed from the massive damage that has been done. Akin has never been around those that might hate him before and it is wondered what will happen when the Humans discover Akin is not as Human as he looks.
Chapter two begins with the Human resisters taking Akin upriver in a boat. After stopping, the men discuss the price that Akin, a nearly perfectly Human looking male child, will bring.
In chapter three one of the men is kind to Akin. Akin decides he will try and stay close to this man since the man is trying to be kind.
