Chapter 26-27 Summary

Cole plans to visit Pike but cannot stop thinking about Dolan. He loves Lucy but struggles daily to stifle his attraction to the tough woman detective. At Parker Center, he meets Pike and shares his theory that Karen's killer is impersonating him, and may be a cop, based on his inside knowledge of the investigation. Krantz arrives and tells the group that a sixth victim, Jesus Lorenzo, has been found murdered in a park. Though the murder does clear Joe Pike for the serial killer charge, Krantz will continue to build a case against Pike for Dersh's death, and he reveals that he will ask for the death penalty when Pike's day in court arrives.

Cole finally calls Dolan and asks for her help accessing Wozniak's police file. She agrees, coolly, and the two set out for the LAPD storage facility...
