Chapter 13-14 Summary

Cole confronts Dolan about the fraudulent reports and the serial killer. She is amazed at his investigative skill, but fears that if she cooperates with him she may lose her job. Nevertheless, she reveals that the LAPD suspects Eugene Dersh is the killer. Cole's instincts cause him to virulently disagree. Cole fills Pike in on the status of the investigation, including the LAPD's suspicion of Dersh. Cole maintains his belief that Dersh is innocent, but Pike wants to see the man and make his own judgment. Pike goes to Dersh's house and watches him through the window. His instincts agree with Cole's, so he decides to wait and see what the Los Angeles Police Department turns up in their investigation.
