Chapter 7-8 Summary

Crime Scene Investigator John Chen returns to the scene of Karen Garcia's murder in the hopes of turning up more evidence. He still cannot find the place where the murderer hid. Joe Pike arrives and, without giving his name, helps Chen locate the shell casing and a partial boot print, as well as some tire tread marks and an oil drip. Chen happily takes credit for the discovery.

Meanwhile, Cole arrives at Parker Center for his first day with the LAPD on Karen's case. Krantz introduces Cole to Samantha Dolan, a prickly detective who resents the babysitting assignment. The Robbery-Homicide team meets and Krantz continues to snub Cole and resist cooperating.
