Chapter Thirteen: Open Secret Summary

The following morning Maggie stays in bed and cries. She's upset that she's lost her friends but more so that she's hurt them. Rosie and Les come in midmorning to check on her and tell her the exciting news that they've decided to stay in Austin. This upsets Maggie even more.

In the afternoon she recognizes that she needs to do clean up, both metaphorically and literally. She goes to the Bingo hall to apologize and help clean up decorations. She apologizes but no one listens to her and she leaves feeling more dejected than ever.
