As tension rises between Paige and Nicholas due to Nicholas' refusal to be more helpful with the baby, Nicholas decides it is time to tell his parents they have a grandson. Nicholas has not spoken to his father since the night his father told Nicholas he could not support his decision to marry Paige, but Nicholas has spoken to his mother over the phone at Christmas and birthdays ever since Astrid sent Nicholas a card in the early years of his marriage to Paige. Nicholas has not seen Astrid, nor has he told Paige about these phone calls.
