Work versus Home

The theme Work versus Home is clearly shown very early on in the book after Samantha has been furloughed. Sam is initially panicked about losing her job, and she makes it seem like there’s nothing more important in her life. After she’s been furloughed, Sam has the time to think about her time with the firm. She realizes that she doesn’t know what to do with herself because the last few years of her life have been completely consumed by work.
