Chapter 8 Summary

As Tibby baby-sits her brother Nicky, she prays that her sister Katherine will not die. She blames herself for opening a window that is normally closed and for not helping Katherine to get an apple from the tree. If she had helped Katherine, she wouldn't have tried to get one from the open window. Tibby's dad calls just then with the news that Katherine will recover. Her dad tells Tibby that she can come to the hospital in two hours with Nicky.

Tibby receives calls on her answering machine from Carmen, Bee and Lena, all telling her that they're sorry and that they are thinking of her and Katherine.
