Summary

Chapter 27 is from Ivy's perspective. Daffodil wakes Ivy with the news that Heath has begun arresting Wingwatchers, including Foxglove and Violet. Ivy has noticed the increased tension since Leaf's arrival. She tried to explain that Leaf is not a spy for the Invincible Lord and is not a threat, but Heath is increasingly paranoid. Lark agrees that Ivy should hide. Ivy and Daffodil are worried Heath's guards will find the sapphire in Foxglove's cave and manufacture a reason for Ivy to get inside and retrieve it. The agree they have to get it out of the city.

Chapter 28 is from Leaf's perspective. Someone knocks at Stone's door and he instinctively has Leaf hide. A guard is planning to arrest Leaf. Stone says Leaf went for water and will return soon, leaving the guard waiting outside. He then reveals a tunnel he has painstakingly...
