Chapter Twelve Summary

Sookie meets with Sid Matt Lancaster, Jason's lawyer, and discusses her brother's case. It seems that Jason had been covered in the victim's blood with a video tape of the two having sex. Jason had admitted that he had sex with the girl but does not remember anything after that point. Sookie thinks her brother has been set up and Sid Matt agrees that it might be possible. They discuss bail, and Sookie goes home, knowing that there is nothing else she can do at this point.

Bubba greets her as she arrives and Sookie says goodnight and goes inside, fixing herself a snack and settling in, wishing Bill would call. A noise outside disturbs her, and Bubba appears on the porch. There had been an intruder, and the vampire had frightened him off.
