Chapter One Summary

Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress at the local bar in Bon Temps, Louisiana, waiting for something to happen in her life. A little excitement turns into a lot more when a vampire moves into town. People in town are getting murdered, and it's up to Sookie to defend Bill Compton, her friend the vampire.

Sookie Stackhouse is a 25-year-old waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Working at the local bar, Sookie has friends, but not many, as most people consider her a bit crazy. Sookie accepts the way people treat her because she is a bit different. Sookie is able to read the thoughts of the people around her, and years of trying to stay out of people's business have made her actions seem strange to others.
