Chapter Ten Summary

Daemon is not used to spending time with a child and finds many of Jaenelle's awkward questions difficult to deal with. He asks her to take a letter to Saetan. Saetan reads it and replies, telling Daemon that he has trouble with Jaenelle's awkward questions too, and to refer her to him if she ever asks something too difficult.

One day Jaenelle is playing in a tree in the alcove in the gardens. She levitates on the air and slowly floats back to the ground. Daemon asks her to teach him how to stand on the air, and she tries to show him. He can't do it, so she links her mind with his, letting him feel how she does it. This is successful. Later, Daemon plays with Jaenelle in the snow, building a snowman and having a snowball fight.
