Chapter Nine Summary

Jaenelle is progressing in her lessons with Saetan. She tells him that Daemon sends his greetings, and Saetan tells her to return the sentiment for him.

Greer arrives at Beldon Mor and tells Daemon about Dorothea's offer. He tells Daemon that they do not know who the girl they want killed is yet, but that he should look out for a blonde child with a strange aura. Daemon mocks him and makes it clear he is not interested in the deal.

Daemon communicates with Lucivar psychically to tell him about Greer's offer, since it concerns his freedom too. Lucivar tells him not to hurt Jaenelle for his sake, and that if he does he will hunt him down and kill him. Daemon is relieved that Lucivar also wants to protect Jaenelle.

As Daemon is walking with Jaenelle in some public gardens...
