Chapter Eight Summary

Jaenelle is talking to Daemon in the library one night when she sees his snake tooth under one nail. This is a natural weapon that Black Widows develop. It is tipped with poison and needs to be milked regularly. Once milked, the poison has to be replaced, and this is achieved by the Black Widow drinking more poison. If he or she drinks the wrong kind of poison, they will die. Daemon has been unable to get his hands on an appropriate poison, so he has not milked his snake tooth in a while. Now it is inflamed and painful, and if he does not do something soon, it could kill him. Jaenelle asks Saetan what to do on her next trip to see him. Saetan is also a Black Widow and keeps a stock of poisons. He makes a concoction...
