Part Three, Chapter Six Summary

Daemon arrives at Alexandra Angelline's house in Beldon Mor. He is introduced to Alexandra, her daughter Leland, Leland's husband Robert, and Robert's daughter from his first marriage, a fourteen-year-old girl called Wilhelmina. Daemon can sense that Witch has been in the house, but she is not here now. He searches the rooms for a trace of her, and finds her psychic scent strong in a child's room. He wonders if she might be a carer or a healer for Leland's child, who is away at the moment.

Daemon walks with Wilhelmina in the gardens every day. One day she goes into an alcove where a plant called Witchblood grows. She says her sister planted it to remember some witches who died violent deaths. She tells Daemon that her sister is in Briarwood. Daemon asks the cook about...
