Prologue, and Part One, Chapter One Summary

Jaenelle is Witch, a prophesied witch of the Blood who will help to restore the Realm of Terreille to the honorable and kinder place that it should be. She is incredibly powerful, but also incredibly vulnerable because of her young age. She is mentored by the Lord of Hell, Saetan, and guarded and befriended by his son Daemon. Although both try to keep her safe and hidden from Dorothea, a Queen who would destroy her if she knew of Jaenelle's power, neither see the real danger until too late. Jaenelle is being abused at a hospital for disturbed children, and on the night that Jaenelle is raped she almost loses her sanity and her life.
