Section 13: ch. 31-32 Summary

Part four, "Home", begins with the legend of "Coyote Hears His Heart" in which Coyote sits in a canoe, unsure of where he wants to go. A thumping noise distracts Coyote, and he calls out to Old Mother to stop the noise. She laughs, tells him it is his heart and advises him to think of the sound of drums and home.

In chapter thirty-one, "There Are No Orphans Among the Crow", Coyote drives back to Crow Country while Sam, paralyzed with grief, plays with Grubb. At the Hunts Alone house, Sam meets Festus's wife Cindy and learns that Grandma is dead and Pokey is sick in the clinic. Cindy watches Grubb as Coyote and Sam go to see Pokey. The nurse at the clinic tells Sam that Pokey should be in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital...
