Section 2: ch. 4-6 Summary

In the fourth chapter, "Moment Are Our Mentors", in Santa Barbara, Sam has a day when the senses are heightened as he realizes the extreme ugliness of Gabriella, his secretary, and composes a poem about her in his head. Gabriella tells Sam that Aaron, his boss, is angry and wants to see him. Aaron yells at Sam over the stunt he pulled at Motion Marine because Cable fainted and Cochran is talking about a lawsuit. When Sam objects that Aaron approved of the subliminal messages, Aaron explains that he is talking about the Indian who attacked Cable with a tomahawk after Sam left. Aaron ignores Sam's denials because someone saw the Indian leaving Sam's car. Sam is speechless; he fears Indians because he is one and he fears cops because he killed one.
