Section 1: chapter 1-3 Summary

"Coyote Blue" by Christopher Moore is an entertaining novel about a Crow Indian. After killing a police officer, Sam flees to Santa Barbara and becomes a successful insurance salesman. Coyote, his spirit helper, arrives and creates chaos in Sam's mundane life, ultimately concluding with Sam's happy return to his home and heritage. "Coyote Blue" is an interesting combination of Crow legends and chaos.

In the first part, "Epiphany", and the first chapter, "Life Will Find You", in Santa Barbara, California, twenty years after running away, Samuel Hunter steps outside his office and is overwhelmed with desire for a girl. A young Indian appears and, after asking if Sam wants her, throws a knife into her tire. Sam gives the girl, Calliope, a ride to work. Her conversation is hard to follow, and Calliope jumps out of the car when they reach the Tangerine Tree Cafe, forgetting her...
