Chapter Ten Summary

At the beginning of chapter ten, Holiday murders the Gotham City Coroner in his hearse as fireworks are going off.

Bruce Wayne is spending the Fourth of July with Selina Kyle at Wayne Manor. Kyle asks Wayne why he stays in Gotham, and Wayne replies that he made a promise to his parents. Kyle tells Wayne that there are places they could go together, and the two kiss as the Bat Signal goes up in the sky. When Batman arrives on the rook he finds Harvey Dent flipping a coin. Batman questions whether he ever really knew Dent. Dent admits that he made a mistake by attacking Bruce Wayne and tells Batman that after Maroni testifies against Falcone he is going to leave the city for a time.
