Part VIIII, P. 631 to P. 722 Summary

Mixtli wanders back to the outskirts of Triple Alliance territory. He hears that the ruler Ahúitzotl has died and then new ruler is Motecuzóma. As an Eagle Knight, Mixtli feels obligated to attend the new ruler's coronation. At home, Mixtli's daughter Cocóton has been well-cared for by Cozcatl and Ticklish. Mixtli gives Cocóton a turquoise necklace and explains that her mother is gone forever. Ticklish is very attached to the girl and leaves with difficulty. Ticklish goes to Mixtli's house soon after these ceremonies, when Cozcatl is out of town. She wants him to get her pregnant, and threatens to pick up any man to do it. Mixtli makes excuses to evade Ticklish. Shortly after, Béu Ribé, who has finally arrived, announces that Ticklish is now pregnant by another man...
