Part VI, Section 1, P. 319 to 408 Summary

The trading group starts to climb the highlands to the south. The men stop at an inn and from another merchant, Mixtli hears a story about an unknown permanent purple dye. Next day the men stay at Cuernavaca, and soon they advance into bandit country. Blood Glutton spots a group of bandits and is able to organize an ambush of the would-be ambushers. The countryside becomes greener, and it is warmer. Cozcatl learns to kill game with a bow and arrow. Mixtli starts to learn new languages of the people in the south such as the Maya, first from his slaves. The group passes through the village that is home of Slave #4, and with Mixtli's linguistic abilities, he gets a good deal selling the slave.
