Anne is greeted by Diane while bringing home the cows from the back pasture. With much excitement, Diane extends an invitation from Aunt Josephine to visit with her in town for the Exhibition. The two girls conspire to have Mrs. Barry ask for Marilla's permission, being harder to say no to Mrs. Barry than Anne. Anne, wearing a dress hand sewn by Marilla who makes them in the latest fashion now, hurried over to the Barrys the following Tuesday morning.
