Chapter 3 Summary

As Lucifer accompanies Phyllida on her errands, he prods her for details of what happened after he was knocked unconscious. She relates to him that he was found by Hemmings, Horatio's gardener, and the locals took him to jail. During this time, she had planned on coming to the manor to borrow a volume of poetry as she sometimes did. When she finds that her cousins have come to visit, she must wait until the household returns from church before she could leave.

Phyllida continues to answer Lucifer's questions. Although he has some memories of what happened, they are scattered. Lucifer wonders why Phyllida does not relate to him how hard she worked to care for him while he was sick.
