chapters nine and ten Summary

In chapter nine, Craddock returns to Little Paddock to gain more intelligence. The erratic Mitzi insists that the side door was purposely left open for someone to come into. She claims to have heard Mrs. Haymes talking to Rudi secretly in the yard. When Craddock accidentally tries to go through a "dummy door", he notices the numerous doors in the hallway. He also notices the door he tried to go through had a distinct line on it where a table had been. He is told that the door has been locked up for years. Someone has indeed opened the door.

After it is discovered that the "dummy door" had been tampered with, Craddock starts to lean towards Miss Marple's theory that someone in the house at the time of the incident could have been behind Rudi and...
