Object Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.
Objects
The Sea - This represents life and death to the narrator.
The Wrecked Boat - The narrator describes this early in the novel as a metaphor for himself.
The Cedars - This is a boarding house where people seem to go after suffering psychological deaths.
The Doctor's Office - This is what the narrator calls the place where Anna's end began.
The Beach - This is where Chloe and Rose get into an argument.
The Field - This is where the narrator would vacation as a child.
