Objective

The head Bledlow carries out the Ceremony of the Keys with two other Bledlows, who are known for their lack of imagination.

The objective of this lesson is to examine and attempt to understand why some ceremonies are continued without apparent reason other than that they have been done the same way since the beginning.

Lesson

1) Initiate a class discussion into ceremonies and what causes something to become a ceremony. What other ceremonies could be considered to be outdated or past their use in time?

2) Break the class into groups and debate the need for ceremonies that are tradition bound. Why continue them? What purpose does a ceremony fulfill if any?

3) In short essay form, choose a ceremony that has gone on for many years and describe it. What is the reason for the ceremony? How did it come about and when?
