Summary

In Chapter 13, when Grace was finally allowed to leave the police station, she ran from the building toward home. Even as she considered the lies she was learning that Jonathan told her, she wondered if perhaps he had been protecting her from something. Recognizing that she was following the draw of wishful thinking, Grace ordered herself aloud to stop.

Inside her apartment, Grace was overwhelmed with nausea. The detectives had questioned her about things about which she had no knowledge like an ATM card and an account at an unfamiliar bank. She knew there was no chance she could sleep that night so she began searching for things that might give her clues as to what was happening. The only things she found in the house that she did not recognize were a green wool scarf, an ugly shirt she did not...
