Summary

In Chapter 6, Grace’s cell phone blinked that she had messages, messages that she ignored as she met with her morning clients, and then answered questions in a pre-interview with Today during her lunch break. She explained to the producer how women sometimes allowed their physical attraction to a man block their ability to pay attention to what that man was saying about himself.

When Grace finally looked at her messages, she saw one of them was from the school but many of them were from Sally. She assumed at the time that Sally was sending information about the auction but realized later that when she pushed the button to listen to the messages, it was the last moment she would really think of as “before” (102).
