The moon is mentioned several times throughout the poem, including the full and new moon phases, as are the stars. Werewolves are most popularly associated with the full moon, yet this poem illustrates that the night sky can influence the transformation in a range of different ways. Consistent, however, is the control the night has over these characters and the way the transition between day and night mirrors the transition that happens within.
