Summary

In Chapter 12, Charlie and Howard wait for Wishbone to fall for the trap. Howard finally goes home. Charlie thinks about her mother’s visit to Colby. Finally, she asks Bertha about it. Bertha says that Carla came alone saying that she was going to start a new life. She stayed for a couple of months and left after Bertha expressed her disapproval of Carla’s plans to start her new life without her children. Bertha says she called, but Carla would not speak to her. She also intercepted Bertha’s attempts to connect with Jackie and Charlie. Bertha says that Carla loves Charlie, but she loses her way at times. Gus says that Wishbone would be crazy not to take advantage of what Charlie is offering him.
