Summary

In Chapter 8, Arabella is singing when she enters, but screams when she sees the mess. She calls Rumpus “a monster” as she evaluates the damage. She calls her brother and demands that his driver come take Rumpus away. She throws the package of meatballs on the floor, and Rumpus eats them all. The driver is a man named Martin. Arabella urges him to find a place in the country to dump Rumpus. When she offers to pay him extra, he agrees. Martin removes the collar, shouts at Rumpus, and drives away. Rumpus is not sure if this is a safe place. He cries for Rosie.

In Chapter 9, Maggie wakes during the night and hears a sound like crying. She looks through the window at the garden and orchard. She sees something that could be a cat. She wonders about it again the next...
