Summary

The narration switches to Fen’s perspective. When Dom and Rowan return to the lighthouse, she notices a moment of affection between them and is flooded with a sense of relief about what this means. Later, she hears Dom talking aloud to himself as if talking to Claire. She feels distraught that he is still doing this and impulsively steals all of Claire’s remaining belongings from Dom’s wardrobe and takes them down to the beach. From Dom’s perspective, he notices Claire’s things are missing and asks Raff where they are. Everyone walks down to the beach where they find Fen burning Claire’s possessions. Dom is overcome with grief and attempts to snatch items from the fire, succeeding in rescuing a copy of a book which had Claire’s notes in. Rowan tells Dom she knows what it is...
