Summary

In Chapter 4, Werner awakens and Franka explains what happened while he was unconscious. Werner lies about his identity even though Franka knows that Werner Graf is not his real name. He says that he cannot discuss his mission for fear that classified information could fall into Allied hands. The two talk for a bit, both very distrustful, Franka offers to tell the local Gestapo office that one of the airmen is here, but Werner says that is not necessary. Franka heads into town to get some painkillers on her skis while Werner has nightmares about falling from the sky and tries to escape from the cabin. As Franka shops, she runs into her old boyfriend Daniel Berkel, now part of the Gestapo. Though she wants nothing more than to get away from him, she stays and chats as that is the safer option...
