Summary

In Chapter 37, Lily’s outburst is interrupted by her mother entering the room and holding her. Then, Halmoni walks upstairs to see what is wrong and collapses. Chapter 38 opens with Sam calling an ambulance for her grandmother as Lily feels responsible for her collapse. Their mom rushes off with Halmoni to the hospital as Sam and Lily make the decision to follow them. Sam wants to get Jensen to drive them, explaining that Jensen has been helping Sam spread rice around the neighborhood to protect Halmoni for the past several nights. Lily is shocked that her sister has a friend and that she believes in Halmoni’s stories of protection. In Chapter 39, Sam decides to drive her and Lily herself.
