Summary

Chapter 19 opens with Lily and Ricky carefully putting Halmoni’s story jars aside. Ricky opens up to Lily about having to pass an English test or else repeat the sixth grade again. He feels insecure knowing people think he is stupid but is reassured when Lily tells him she knows he is not. The pair then build a tiger trap using rope and a circle of boxes. In Chapter 20, Sam and Lily share a rare moment of bonding as Sam does Lily’s hair that night and they compare their interpretations of the old tiger story. Sam views it as being sad, since the sisters are separated in the night sky, but Lily thinks it is a story of togetherness and cooperation.
